Occupy Atlanta / Occupy Sukkot

October 17th, 2011 § Leave a Comment

Photos taken today at the Woodruff Park (Now known as Troy Davis Park) during the Occupy Sukkot Sit-In.

A brilliant twist on the Sheikh Jarrah Solidarity movement slogan “There is no holiness in an occupied city”, changing it to “There is holiness in an occupied city”.

Demonstration Against the Execution of Troy Davis, GA State Capitol

September 21st, 2011 § 1 Comment

The state of Georgia will execute Troy Davis tomorrow for a crime he is very likely innocent of committing. I find the mere idea of a death penalty morally wrong, and it is in cases like these where the injustice screams, yet we still fail to abolish this law; a law that might kill someone who might be innocent tomorrow. The #TooMuchDoubt campaign, led by Amnesty International and the NAACP was right on the spot: If there is too much doubt regarding a person’s conviction, how can we let him DIE?

Here’s a good read with a summery of this story.

These pictures were taken at the demonstration on the Georgia state capitol steps at 7 PM tonight, 24 hours before Troy Davis’ planned injection with the poison that will kill him.

May Day 2011 in Atlanta, GA

May 2nd, 2011 § Leave a Comment

After attending my first May Day parade in Haifa last year, I went to my second one in my current hometown of Atlanta, GA. It started a bit weird, but as time passed, it was more fun. That said, and with all due respect to Atlanta, Haifa’s was better. Attendance was better, speeches were better, and signs were more creative. Oh well. One thing Atlanta did have and Haifa didn’t is a fun “radical marching band”, the “ATL Sedition Orchestra“, which were really groovy.
Happy May Day y’all!

The Rally at Freedom Park

The March on Moreland Ave.

This Street performer was out of a job for a little due to the protest for workers’ rights.

Very cute, but because I saw this yesterday, I couldn’t but think of the similarities.

Nadav and Yonatan in Haifa

This one was taken on the Louis promenade back in the spring, just before I came to the states and they moved to England. I forgot about it until skyping with both of them a few minutes ago. Nadav looks the same, Yonatan is twice the size and cuteness he was when this picture was taken.

Evening at Barrett Sq., Rosemary Beach, Florida

The following were taken in Barrett Square at around 6 in the evening. Just a couple of days ago this square was packed with people who came here for their Thanksgiving vacation, and now its pretty much empty. I thought there was something very cool in the empty, quiet, town’s square.
